Did you know? It costs $47.50 per day to house one inmate in a Florida prison. For each offender we help guide away from a life a crime, we save taxpayers $17,338 per year. The more funding we receive on Give Miami Day, the more lives we can help change and the safer our streets will be.
What is Give Miami Day? Give Miami Day is a unique, 24-hour online giving event that allows individuals in our community an opportunity to build a greater Miami by making a charitable gift to a local nonprofit such as Riverside House.
When you donate $25 or more to Riverside House through GiveMiamiDay.org on Give Miami Day, your donation will be matched by The Miami Foundation. We’ll also be qualified to win bonus funds. That’s right! The foundation will match, on a percentage basis, the total of donations made during the 24-hour donation period.
All proceeds raised from Give Miami Day will be used to fund our residential reentry program, which is our live-in program for ex-offenders. Each individual is guided through a personalized plan that emphasizes issues such as employment, life skills, substance abuse counseling, and family reunification. Programs such as this one give us the greatest opportunity to change the lives of at risk individuals and guide them away from a life of crime.
