Give Miami Day 2016 Change the Story in MiamiEveryone loves a good story so let’s make the Fourth Annual Give Miami Day on Thursday, November 17, 2016 the best one yet.

One out of every four inmates released from a Florida prison will return to a prison in Florida within three years. You can help us change this story in Miami and help make your community safer by donating to Riverside House on Give Miami Day on Thursday, November 17.

The more funding we receive on Give Miami Day, the more lives we can help change and the safer our streets will be. Here’s how: Among the many ways that we support our clients, one of the facets that our programs emphasize is job skills training and employment. As a result, our clients maintain a 75% employment rate. When ex-offenders are employed, not only are they supporting their families, they are also more likely to avoid returning to crime, both of which save taxpayers money.

All proceeds raised from this year’s Give Miami Day will be used to fund our non-residential support program, which focuses on aftercare. Around 600,000 individuals are released from prison each year in the U.S. and that number is expected to rise with the current legislative push to decrease prison population. Since each of these individuals will not be entering a federally funded residential reentry program, it’s critical that we support them through aftercare. Our non-residential aftercare programs include support groups, individual counseling, employment training, and life skills training. However, since our aftercare programs are 100 percent dependent on fundraising, we can’t do this without you.

Can you see how something as simple as contributing to an organization like Riverside House can make a BIG impact on the communities we live in? When you donate or more to Riverside House through GiveMiamiDay. (Aricampanimalhospital.com) org on Thursday, November 17, your donation will be matched by The Miami Foundation. We’ll also be qualified to win bonus funds. Plus, the foundation will match, on a percentage basis, the total of donations made during the 24-hour donation period.

If you are unable to donate financial support, can you please help us spread the word by sharing our social media posts and email announcements? Together, we can change the story and help ex-offenders lead positive and product lives as law-abiding citizens.

Thank you for your continued support. Should you have any questions about our programs or how funding is used, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
