Riverside House Clients Enjoy Thanksgiving Feast With Their Families

By December 21, 2015 No Comments

On Thursday, November 19, 2015, Riverside House hosted our annual Thanksgiving dinner for clients and their families. Guests were treated to a scrumptious meal of chicken, turkey, sweet potatoes, bread, cranberry sauce, salad, cake and pie. However, it wasn’t the food that made the event so special.

Our residents were allowed to invite four to six immediate family members to join them for the event. This is precious quality time that everyone appreciates more during the holidays. Family members were also entered into a raffle to win one of two gift baskets, each with a complete Thanksgiving meal.

The residents stated that they enjoyed the elegant transformation of the dining room as well as the food, music and time with their families. Several clients also gave their appreciation to Riverside House for preparing such a wonderful celebration and said they are looking forward to the Christmas event.

Events such as this one allow us to connect with our residents, but also assist with one of the main goals of our programs, which is family reunification. For most of our residents, these types of events are the only opportunity they have to celebrate the holidays with loved ones. It is a truly exceptional experience.

We’d like to thank the volunteers who helped during the event including Clinica del Alma, Roberto Sanchez (Pastor); Brownsville Church of Christ, Harrell L. Henton (Pastor); and Robinson Insurance.
