Introduction
At Riverside House, accessibility is integral to our mission of supporting reentry, restoration, and reintegration for individuals and families. Riverside House is committed to making the www.riversidehouse.org website reasonably accessible and usable for people with disabilities.
Standards & Scope
Riverside House’s goal is to develop and maintain www.riversidehouse.org in substantial conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, which are widely recognized as a benchmark for web accessibility. These guidelines are evolving technical standards, and conformance may vary by page, feature, or integration over time.
This statement applies to the primary public website at www.riversidehouse.org and does not extend to third‑party websites, platforms, or services that may be linked from, embedded within, or integrated with the site. Accessibility on third‑party properties is governed by their own policies and technical implementations.
Measures Taken
To support digital accessibility, Riverside House has implemented and may continue to implement measures such as:
- Designing and developing new templates and features with reference to WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria where reasonably practicable.
- Conducting periodic manual and automated reviews to identify and remediate accessibility issues within the organization’s technical and budgetary constraints.
- Integrating assistive tools, including the OneTap accessibility toolbar, to provide user‑controlled adjustments such as text resizing, contrast adjustments, link and text highlighting, and keyboard navigation of the toolbar interface, including quick launch via Alt + . (Windows) or ⌘ + . (Mac), where supported.
These measures are applied on a rolling basis and may not yet cover all content, historical pages, documents, or media.
Known & Potential Limitations
Despite ongoing efforts, some parts of www.riversidehouse.org may not be fully accessible at all times. Areas where users may experience barriers can include:
- Legacy content, PDFs, images, or videos that may lack complete text alternatives, captions, transcripts, or sufficient contrast.
- Third‑party components, plugins, maps, social media feeds, donation forms, or embedded content that Riverside House does not fully control.
- Temporary regressions that occur when new content, features, or integrations are deployed before full accessibility testing is complete.
- Riverside House treats these as areas for ongoing improvement and will address issues as reasonably feasible in light of technical, organizational, and financial resources.
No Warranty or Guarantee
Riverside House endeavors to improve accessibility in good faith, but cannot and does not represent, warrant, or guarantee that:
- The website, or any specific page, feature, or integration, will always be fully accessible or error‑free for every user, device, browser, or assistive technology; or
- The website will at all times conform to any particular interpretation of WCAG, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508, or any other law, regulation, or technical standard.
Use of www.riversidehouse.org and reliance on any accessibility features or tools is at the user’s own risk, and nothing in this statement should be interpreted as a legal admission of compliance or non‑compliance.
